mIRC Sounds

Note: If the .wav or .mp3 etc. file does not exist on your computer you will not hear it on your speakers when someone requests it on the channel.

mIRC Setup:

Under the Options menu of which there are a couple of ways to get there

-1 On the toolbar at the top 2nd in from the left or
-2 Click File (in the upper left hand corner above the toolbar) then click Options or
-3 Hold the Alt key and press the O key.

Check the following options to see that they are checked or unchecked.

Sounds\

checked - Enable Sounds

On Event, play sound:

the first block shows the event that the second block shows the sound that goes along with that event. go through the events and cancel any sounds that are selected.

Note: To cancel sounds for certain events select that event. Double click on the sound box and when the selection box appears click on cancel.

Beep On:

uncheck - All items

Event Beep:

default - All items
checked - Use pc speaker

Sounds\Request

checked - Accept Sound Requests
checked - Ignore if a sound, is currently playing
checked - Warn if sound doesn't exist
checked - Listen '!nick file' get requests
uncheck - Send '!nick file' as private message

Sound folders:

the first block shows the type of file(.wav, .midi, .mp3) that the second block shows the path to where that file type resides. go through the types of files and make sure that the paths that are selected are correct.

Sounds\Agents

Leave this section as it was set up by mirc to begin with.

Press Ok to get out of the Options menu.

Sounds if they are on your computer should start playing when the requests are put across the channel.

Playing Sounds:

For you to play sounds that you want others to hear. You need a line or two of scirpt placed in the proper place on mirc and or learn how to use the /sound or /splay command.

Playing sounds to the channel.

/sound < filename.wav > < message >

-- Replacing --

< filename.wav > with the filename of the (.wav, .mp3, or .mid) file you wish to share with the channel.

< message > (optional) with a message to the channel.

ex.... I would like to play !rules.wav and tell the channel that "we have rules on this channel" so i would type in the edit box of the channel that i wanted to send this sound and message too:

/sound !rules.wav we have rules on this channel

and Press enter ...

Playing sounds to yourself.

/splay < filename.wav >

< filename.wav > with the filename of the (.wav, .mp3, or .mid) file you wish to hear (on your computer only)

ex.... I wish to play desiree.mp3 on my computer only so i would type:

/splay desiree.mp3

and Press enter ...
